BOSS Bottled Night Eau de Toilette

BOSS Bottled Night is a woody aromatic eau de toilette for men, launched in 2010 and created by perfumer Peter Schmitt. Where the original BOSS Bottled (1998) is a warm apple-cinnamon signature, Bottled Night goes somewhere else entirely — reviewers repeatedly note it "has no relation to any of the other Bottled flankers."

The opening pairs lavender with birch — the birch reading as crisp, slightly leathery and smoky, which stops the lavender from becoming a standard barbershop accord. The heart is the fragrance's signature: violet. That cool, powdery, almost floral-fresh violet gives Bottled Night its famous "midnight blue" personality, and depending on the note list you follow it's joined by cardamom (and sometimes jasmine). The base rests on a rare South American wood, Louro Amarelo (also called salmwood/Lauro Amarello), softened by musk and general woodsy notes — warm, slightly exotic, and the reason the bottle's marketing leans so hard on the wood accord. The presentation matches the mood: the classic BOSS Bottled flask, but in near-black/dark blue glass.

Performance is the usual caveat. Reviews range from 5–7 hours and "5 sprays, 1–0.5m sillage" on clothing down to complaints of modern batches fading within a couple of hours — most place it in the moderate, 4–6 hour bracket, best on clothing, ideal for evening and cooler months rather than a hot Doha afternoon.
