Melissa and Doug Grocery Store

Step right up — the Melissa & Doug Fresh Mart Grocery Store is open for business, and this time your little one is running the shop. This free-standing wooden market brings a whole world of dramatic play into the playroom: one side is a shopper's paradise of ample shelving for stocking and browsing play food, while the flip side is a fully working checkout where the grocer rings up the week's haul. Turn the hand-crank and watch items trundle along the conveyor belt, slide groceries past the beeping scanner, punch numbers into the keypad/calculator, swipe the bank card, pop open the cash drawer, and bag everything up in the bagging area. With smooth, curved corners and edges, it's a safe, sturdy spot for kids aged three and up to take turns playing shopper, stocker and cashier — practising real-world skills like counting, sorting, communication and social scripts along the way. Best of all, it invites collaboration: siblings, friends and grown-ups can all join in, switching roles and inventing new scenarios. Built from high-quality wood with FSC-certified materials and a wipe-clean finish, it assembles in about half an hour and becomes a playroom landmark that lasts for years.
